Proposed Application for Continued Mixed Use as Garden Centre (Class A1) and Cafe/Restaurant (Class A3)
 
In November 2007, Petersham Nurseries was granted a twelve month Temporary Consent in response to our application for Mixed Use as Garden Centre and Café/Restaurant. One of the conditions for this temporary consent is the ongoing development of our Travel Plan which works to encourage an increasing number of visitors to travel without car. We are deeply grateful to the increasing number of customers who are opting to leave their cars behind and who are travelling on foot, bicycle, public transport or ferry. One of the greatest challenges that we face is the fact that traffic and congestion in the borough is increasing. We are a small business and only one of the several enterprises and local amenities which are located off Petersham Road (A307) in Petersham. Our efforts alone are not going to be able to reduce the amount of traffic generated by other enterprises or in any way significantly reduce the volume of traffic which flows along Petersham Road (A307) – one of the busiest roads within the borough.
